Through time
SR NAGAR
THROUGH TIME
చరిత్ర
The city changes around us. The memories that bind a neighbourhood must be carried forward on purpose.
← All storiesThis timeline preserves the useful record and makes uncertainty visible. Where a source exists, it is named. Where the account is oral or a date still needs a document, that status is shown instead of filling the gap with certainty.
1968
Gurumurthy Nagar
A Housing Board development takes shape on the northern edge of the city. The street grid that residents still walk is laid out.
Source. From the project's initial research notes. The primary record has not yet been located, and we would welcome a resident who can point us to it.
Photograph sought: The early street layout, or any Housing Board document from the period.
1975
Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar
The locality is renamed Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, the name it carries today.
Source. From the project's initial research notes. The gazette notification itself has not yet been traced.
Photograph sought: Early signage carrying either name, or the notification itself.
1970s–80s
Archive in progressThe neighbourhood fills in
Schools open, shops take root, and the first generation of children grows up calling the ground theirs. This decade is the one we know least about, and the one most residents remember best.
Nothing recorded yet. This entry describes what we are asking residents for.
Photograph sought: Street life, families, shopfronts and any image from these two decades.
1990s
Archive in progressA landmark on the map
SR Nagar becomes shorthand for a whole part of Hyderabad. The roads, businesses and arrivals that shaped that recognition are still being pieced together.
Nothing recorded yet. This entry describes what we are asking residents for.
Photograph sought: The main road before the flyover. Commerce, traffic, signboards.
2000s
Archive in progressResidents organise
Neighbours begin organising around the ground and the events held on it. These are the beginnings of what became Groundism. The chronology is being assembled from the people who were there.
Nothing recorded yet. This entry describes what we are asking residents for.
Photograph sought: Meetings, gatherings, early festival years on the ground.
Today
A neighbourhood documenting itself
Generations who grew up here are spread across the world. This is where their SR Nagar is being written down in their own words.
If you know better
If a date is off, or you can point us to a record, tell us. Corrections strengthen the history without erasing the community memory that led us to it.
