GUIDELINES
A neighbourhood board only stays useful if it stays civil. These are the rules a volunteer applies when reading your submission.
This is a moderated board, not a forum
Nothing posts automatically. A resident writes in, a volunteer reads it, and it goes up only if it is useful and civil. That is slower than a group chat, and it is deliberate. It is the only way a handful of people can keep a neighbourhood board worth reading.
We are not obliged to publish anything, and not publishing something is not a judgement about you.
The rules
No personal accusations
Describe the problem, not the person. Name a street, a stretch of drain or a junction, never a neighbour, shopkeeper or official.
No hate or harassment
Nothing targeting anyone's caste, religion, region, gender, language, disability or work. This is not negotiable and it is not moderated leniently.
Nobody else's private data
Do not post another person's phone number, address, photograph, vehicle number or workplace. Your own contact details stay with the moderators and are never published.
No political campaigning
Civic problems are welcome. Party campaigning, election material and candidate promotion are not.
No spam or repeat promotion
One clear post about your business belongs in Explore, not here. Repeated promotion will not be published.
Everything is read first
A volunteer reads every submission before it appears. We may edit for length or clarity, and we will tell you if we do.
Local issues, specifically
Civic complaints are welcome and are one of the reasons this board exists. To be publishable, a report needs to describe a problem rather than accuse a person.
- Publishable: “The streetlight outside the third lane has been out since June; the stretch is dark after 8pm.”
- Not publishable: the same complaint naming an official, a contractor or a neighbour as responsible.
We cannot fix anything ourselves. What a clearly written, factual account does is give residents something they can take to the people who can.
Business and promotion
One clear description of your business belongs in Explore, where we confirm the details with you and publish them properly. Repeated promotion on the board will not be published.
Editing and declining
We may shorten a submission, fix spelling, or split one long post into a clearer question. If we change the meaning of anything, we will check with you first. If we decline something, we will tell you why if you ask.
Taking something down
If something published here is about you, or was posted by you and you have changed your mind, write to us and we will take it down. We do not require a reason and we do not argue about it.
Your own safety
Please do not post your own phone number, address or workplace in the body of a submission. Put your number in the contact field instead, where it stays private. If you do include it in the text, we will remove it before publishing.
